Modern Life is Rubbish

“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage and kindness… The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.” ~ Howard Zinn.

Three Reasons Why

There is a song by my favourite singer, Nik Kershaw called "One World". It is about humanity sharing a common aspirations, living in the same place we called Earth. That we are actually not much different from each other.

These three comments convey so succinctly why we need to reject the present government. They were taken from the post "What Sayest Thou?" written by a very good writer. The article ask readers questions on another excellent post written earlier "Smack in the Eye of the Storm".

After reading them, if anyone could come up with three equally good answer on why we should vote the current government back to power, then i will gladly cross 'X' beside the damn dacing box on the ballot paper come the next general election.

We either accept life as it is or we changed it. If we don't accept things as it is, then we change it. If we don't change things, that could only mean we accept things as they are. Enough said.

Below are the comments written on it.

(1) Walla:

"GE13 is going to take place anytime soon.

Right up to that day, many things will be happening to sway the sentiments of voters.

Inevitably, the present federal government run by Umno will be doing its all to make sure BN is retained and with a higher majority. Everything from sweet to sour, light to darkness, friendly to mercenary.

It will use your money to buy your soul for another five years of its substandard, oppressive, conniving and corrupt rule by double standards.

Its MSM will go all out to lambast the Opposition which will not be given any space in the mainstream media to say its bit even as it faces the machinations of Umno cybertroopers marauding in the alternative media.

Its lackeys will go to the ground to cause physical trouble, having showed much practice in recent and past events.

It may even turn some candidates from human to amphibian at the last minute so that they will lose to its candidates whose winnability as if by some miracle will suddenly leapfrog them into the lead.

With so many complications, the rakyat will inevitably ask:

'Is there anything really simple that we can hold in our heads and hearts when we walk into the polling booth to cast our individual votes?

You know, something so straightforward that it leaves no room for any doubt of what the situation really is that will leave us convinced that we must do the right thing this one time in our lives?'

Someone will answer back the rakyat:

'But you already know the answer. In fact, you yourselves have provided the answer. Why ask a question when you yourselves had already given the answer?'

The rakyat answer back:

'What answer have we given that we must always and unwaveringly remember?'

That someone responds:

'This was your answer:

http://is.gd/wpjtBF '

THAT, rakyat, sums up everything of the real situation of this country.

It's not just reforms. It's also your anger, frustration and fears for all these past 30-40 years.

There comes a time when we have to get up and do our bit to force a change. The place is here. The time is now.

This country needs a massive swing in votes. Make it happen.

It's like plumbing. The pipe is clogged, the tap is leaking, the meter is clocking, and the dirt is piling up to stench the home. It needs to be cleared, drained, cleaned; fumigated too.

Each of us was born to be a plumber of this nation.

Start pumpin'

(cough, ;P)"

(2) StraightTalking:

After touring some other forums, I noticed a young voice (presumably a little girl) who put up her thoughts which I'm reproducing here for the "still-sitting-on-the-fence" voters. Here it is:

"All I know about UMNO is that they have done great harm to racial unity in our beloved country. They have used their two greatest organs, BTN and Utusan to turn the Malays into racists, turning the Malay into hating the non-Malays, and into adoring Hitler, i. e. their ketuanan policy. And it is a tragedy to say that they have succeeded very well in this endeavour. I have practically lost all my Malay friends who have now become racists. Well done, UMNO. Please give yourself a pat on your back."

We shouldn't have to beg anyone to vote for Pakatan. A true Malaysian patriot will see the harm and destruction that BN has done to the country, its economy and its people. Unless, these bastards are like the saying, "None is more blind than those who do not want to see".

I vote Pakatan not because I'm anti-government. No, I'm just anti-corruption and anti-racism. If BN is anti-corruption and anti-racism they'll have my vote absolutely. Unfortunately, BN is as bad as you can get. They are like the KKK (the white supremists), the Nazis, the skinheads. Do you see or hear anyone other than UMNO speaks about being a superior race (Ketuanan Melayu) amongst its citizens? No. No one does that except UMNO.

UMNO treats the non-bumis like Indon housemaids, i.e. the nons are only here to work for the Malay "masters", make some money, and go back to where we came from. To where? To Heaven? To Hell? To Timbuktu? To farking where? How on earth am I a "pendatang" when I was born, raised, educated, and, for the best part of my adult life, worked here? These UMNO bastards have conveniently forgotten that we ARE from Malaysia, born, raised, educated, worked, and in all probability, died in Malaysia - our motherland. Malaysia adalah Tanah Tumpah kami juga!!! Bukan hanya untuk UMNO saja!! UMNO has never ever stop for one second to think - what if THEY were told to "balik tong-sampah lah" - what would be their reaction?

I am born in Malaysia, will defend, and if need be, give up my life for my country in times of war, have contributed thousands upon thousands of ringgit towards the economy in the form of taxes and yet, I see HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS who were not even born here, much younger than me, paying no income taxes whatsoever, who are given bumiputra status strutting around the city and giving me a look that say, "I am more Malaysian than you". Honestly, it drives me insane. What kind of farked up government is this BN? What are they doing to its people. Just because I'm not a malay, just because I'm not a Muslim, I don't deserve to have full rights accorded to a citizen of Malaysia. What kind of democracy is this?!! This is not a democracy; this is aparthied! AND THIS IS NOT ACCETABLE AT ALL!!!!

I don't expect change overnight; not after UMNO/BN has brainwashed the Malays for half a century. With Pakatan, there's hope that one day, in the not too distant future, Malaysians will stand, hand-in-hand singing the Negara-ku with FULL CONVICTION that the country truly belongs to each and everyone of them. Malaysia does not belong to UMNO. It belongs to Malaysians.

Vote PAKATAN RAKYAT for a truly united and corruption-free Malaysia!

(3) Antares:

I've said this many times before, but it's worth repeating. My support for Anwar Ibrahim remains unwavering after 13 years. While he was in Umno rising up the ranks, I could sense his ambition and was doubtful of his political agenda. However, the viciousness with which Mahathir retailiated against Anwar's mutiny also served to cleanse Anwar of any previous sin and facilitate his crucifixion, resurrection and return as the greatest threat to Umno - and the people's best hope for genuine reform. Since 2 September 1998 I have monitored Anwar's words and deeds - and I find no serious issue with anything he's said or done in the last 13 years (apart from the fact that he hasn't yet weaned himself off institutionalized book religions and returned to a pagan appreciation of Mother Nature). All this rubbish speculation about Anwar's sex life is stupid and utterly benighted. I would seriously worry about anyone totally asexual and completely devoid of a sense of humor and an appreciation of humsup things.

A lot of voters are only interested in the economy - and only when times are bad do they get involved in politics. Well, then, let times get so bad EVERYBODY will be forced to wake up and boot out all the crooks - no matter which party they hide behind. It so happens that Umno/BN has been in power for nearly 55 years - and has become rotten from top to bottom. That's why removing Umno/BN from the wheel must be the focus of our resolve in 3012 - not RPK's tantrums or Anwar's alleged erotic exploits.
